Paul Stephen Benjamin's practice is an ongoing investigation of blackness through concept, thought, and perception. This performance has the artist composing a typed daily meditation on the color black, repeatedly typing “Black is Beautiful,” accompanied by video projection. Benjamin embraces blackness not only as a color but also as a potent and multivalent signifier of culture and history.
