Yacine Tilala Fall

Yacine Tilala Fall (b. 1997, Washington, D.C.) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores transformation, lineage, and animism through sculpture, performance, and installation. Fall earned her MFA in Sculpture from Yale School of Art and received the Dedalus MFA Fellowship in Painting & Sculpture and was named a finalist for the Norval Sovereign African Art Prize. Through clay, metal, animal byproducts, and fiber, her works assemble vessels, sites, and systems that move between ritual object, archive, and symbol, tracing relationships between the corporeal body and the unknown.

Fall’s practice draws from diasporic ethnomedicinal practices and embodied knowledge, treating materials as agents of transformation. Her installations construct environments where objects, bodies, and gestures circulate within interconnected systems of memory and exchange. Animism in Fall’s work is a material philosophy and politics that destabilizes Western notions of the body, time, value, and language.

Her work has been presented domestically and internationally, including Porous Grounds, Sacred Codes (2025) at Marres, Centre for Contemporary Culture x RAW Material Company, Maastricht, NL; Queen City (2023), a public art commission in Washington; Still Motion (2022) at Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art; States of Becoming (2022) at The Africa Center.
