Jeanie Riddle
Jeanie Riddle looks for the transformation within the minutiae of the everyday. She builds architecture, bringing it into the delicate politics of the decorative and domestic maintenance, including sculptures, paintings, confetti, plastic, furniture, and found objects. Through this reorientation, the architectural forms are then viewed frontally as one might experience a painting. At Bemis, Riddle plans to continue to collapse her paintings into object signifiers and consider site preference as a tool of domestic narrative – especially corners and containers, forgotten places, and places where one locates memory. She also plans to use writing, collaboration, and an exploration of the local to address ‘living experience’ and what this can do as transformative energies.
