Gabie Strong

Gabie Strong (b. 1971, Denver, CO) is a deaf/hard-of-hearing conceptual artist investigating the politics of noise. Strong uses sound, performance, and relational assemblage to ask the listener/viewer to consider noise not as music but as a critical and celebratory condition of everyday life.

Strong holds degrees in art and architecture from UC Irvine, Sci-Arc, and UCLA.

She is an arts educator and DIY arts organizer, with a long history of co-building community projects like Kchung Radio, KBLT pirate radio, and the early riot grrrl movement. Her micro-imprint Crystalline Morphologies is dedicated to releasing experimental music by underrepresented women, trans, and gender non-conforming artists.

Strong has presented work with No Fun, Lines of Flight NZ, Dragon’s Eye Recordings, EPOCH Gallery, The Tapeworm, LAMOA DS#3 at Commonwealth & Council, LAND AND SEA OAKLAND, Torrance Art Museum, The Hammer Museum, MoCA, The Broad, Human Resources LA, High Desert Test Sites, LACMA, the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, and Jabberjaw, amongst others.

Strong recently participated in an experimental music recording residency at The Space Program SF with her musical partner Christopher Reid Martin. They will be releasing this work under the initialism CGRSM in late 2026. Strong currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
