AYDO
AYDO was founded in 2020 in New York by artists A young Yu and Nicholas Oh. Yu received her MFA from Columbia University and BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Oh received his MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and his BA from San Francisco State University. The duo combines their respective expertise in performance, video, ceramic sculpture, and site-specific installation to form their collaborative practice. AYDO has exhibited and performed at venues including the Pacific Asia Museum, University of Southern California, CA; Bauhaus Museum Weimar, Germany; Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, The Netherlands; The Shed, NY; Bronx Museum of the Arts, NY; Apex Art, NY; Cantor Art Center, Stanford University, CA; Museum of Art and Design, NY; Christie’s Inc, NY; Canal Projects, NY; Hub-Robeson Gallery, Penn State University, PA; Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, NY; ChaShaMa, NY; Artist Alliance, NY; AHL Foundation, NY; Fashion Institute of Technology, NY; Immigrant Artist Biennial, NY; among others. Border Ecologies, 2025. 2-channel video projection, glazed ceramics, 6 x 5 x 2 feet (12 sculptures) & 16:00 (video). Installation of chimeric sculptures depicting the twelve Eastern zodiac animals, engraved with elemental motifs: earth, fire, water, wood, metal. Sculptures encircle a video projection of ecological excursions at the Korean Demilitarized Zone, produced in collaboration with the DMZ Ecology Research Institute, and archival footage of the U.S-Mexico borderland. Commissioned by The Shed, NY.

Lunar Mythos, 2024. Glazed ceramics, variable dimensions. Installation of chimeric sculptures depicting the twelve Eastern zodiac animals, arranged in a circle around a twelve-headed female Buddha. The configuration references statues, reimagined as miniature forms, found at pre-colonial burial tombs.
