OMA ARTalks with UNMC Water, Climate and Health Program
Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts
724 S. 12th Street
Omaha, NE 68102
Explore the current exhibition, From the Great Lakes to the Great Plains: The Visible Currents of Climate Change, from the perspective of Omaha-based artists, creatives, and community leaders. Speakers will share how specific works of art in each exhibition have deeply resonated with them.
If you love data and science, this is the talk for you!
For this edition, experts from UNMC’s Water, Climate and Health Program will connect the dots between public health and the art on view in the exhibition. You’ve heard of the Flint water crisis, but did you know that Nebraska faces its own water contamination challenges tied to climate change? Speakers Jesse Bell, PhD, and Rachel Lookadoo, JD, will explore how climate change impacts drinking water, while sharing how the artworks resonate with them—not just as scientists, but as Nebraskans who care deeply about clean water access for all.
Admission is free; RSVPs are encouraged.
