Abdullah Al-Mutairi

Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Kuwait

Abdullah Al-Mutairi is an artist and writer interested in investigating the idea of ‘the image’ and the ways in which images inform and perpetuate notions of modernity and desirability, particularly in the Arabian Gulf. Whether through the broad material production of images or through visually informed lifestyle changes, he is interested in the ways the circulation of media influences the individual and the collective. While at Bemis, Al-Mutairi plans to continue work with textiles and found materials focusing on his maternal lineage, specifically delving into Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women” as it exemplifies the working class ethic and morality of his mother’s background.
