Alex Myers chooses his materials carefully. He utilizes simple K'nex motors to create a constantly shifting juxtaposition, highlighting the unstable, yet cyclical nature inherent in all of our stories. The bright, plastic colors disarm the senses and create an expectation of frivolity, yet the compositions tell a darker tale. Attracted to the free-play memories of a childhood surrounded by bins of these toys, he discovered direct links to the free-play sentimentality of today's open source, rapid-prototyping movements.

Alex Myers is an internationally exhibiting artist/educator interested in most everything. At the moment this mostly means networks, games, interactions and play. He received his MFA(Hons) in Interactive Media & Environments at The Frank Mohr Instituut, Groningen, The Netherlands in 2009 and his BFA in Intermedia & Painting at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2007. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Nebraska Omaha and Metropolitan Community College.
