Avant-noise bands Fathr^ and Brainworlds open for John Wiese in the Bemis Underground on Friday, October 3rd following the opening reception for the 10th Annual Art Auction. Heaven above…hell below. Doors open at 9:30, music at 10:00 p.m. | $5 admission...

The metal-concrete-brick architecture of the spartan Bemis Underground atrium forms the perfect venue for Weise and local colleagues.

From The Knitting Factory in New York to clubs around the world, John Wiese has amassed an army of followers who long to submit to his droning assaults, ones that create entirely new sonic and physiological experiences.

Wiese, a major figure in the world of noise and experimental rock, is best known for his collaborations with artists as diverse as Sunn O))), Wolf Eyes, Merzbow, Smegma, Kevin Drumm, Cattle Decapitation, and C. Spencer Yeh Thurston Moore and so many others. Wiese often releases his solo work on his own label, Helicopter.

Brainworlds, a contradiction within itself, is that one-man duo where a guitar forms psychic connections with other instruments. Where does the body end and the machine begin? Who among us is not a cyborg?

F A T H R ^ is unsettling, unnatural and un-organic. His “the amplifier saved my life” performances range from sub-harmonic murmurs to screechings of the aching and blasting variety. Special guest musician for this performance is Dapose.
