The bemisUNDERGROUND, the innovative curatorial training program founded by the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts is pleased to announce the curatorial line-up for the upcoming 2008 exhibition season. Six shows will be held in the UNDERGROUND�S 3000-square-foot gallery space, and the curators represent several regions throughout the Midwest, and the six exhibitions range from solo and group shows to multi-media collaborations. Jeremy Stern, the Bemis Center�s assistant director and curator, says: �We received a lot of highly imaginative proposals, and the group of curators we selected is phenomenal. It's going to be a very different season reflecting a broader regional outlook, with participants from Denver, Springfield, Missouri, Iowa City, Iowa, Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska. The bemisUNDERGROUND is a basement level gallery space suited to present visual, audio, and performance art in an interactive environment dedicated to experimentation. Six curators, selected by jury, are allotted five weeks and a stipend to execute projects of their design. A new group of Project curators are selected every spring for the following year. The bemisUNDERGROUND is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization.
