William Betts

William Betts is a painter based in Miami. Before leaving the global software application field to pursue his painting career full time in 2002, he was a senior executive responsible for European operations. In his artistic practice, Betts makes paintings utilizing complex industrial processes that reflect the possibilities of an analog medium in a digital age. Betts’s work has been featured in Rasterfahndung (Tracing the Grid) at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart as well as in exhibitions at the Arlington Museum of Art, University of Dallas; John Michael Kohler Art Center, University of Texas; Trinity University; Salt Lake City Art Center; University of Wisconsin, Eau-Claire; the Albuquerque Museum; and the Blaffer Museum, University of Houston. Betts’s work is represented by Margaret Thatcher Projects, New York, NY; Richard Levy Gallery, Albuquerque, NM; Kostuik Gallery, Vancouver, BC; McClain Gallery, Houston, TX; The Holly Johnson Gallery, Dallas, TX; and Plus Gallery, Denver, CO. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Lawndale Arts Center in Houston, TX and acted as Interim Executive Director in 2008, creating its residency program. Betts also served on the Board of Diverseworks Artspace and as Board President, as well as a member of the Advisory Board for the Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston. He was a Board Member and Treasurer for the Wynwood Arts District Association and is currently a Board Member of Arts for Learning in Miami, FL. Betts holds a BA in Studio Art, Minor in Philosophy with high honors from Arizona State University.
