WETWINKIE (Amia Yokoyama & Cosima Schietekat)

Los Angeles, CA / Mexico City, Mexico

Combining original music, spoken word, dance, and interactive costume, WETWINKIE proposes a physical texture as well as a theatrical scene: the soppy soap bubble, the feeling of glue between fingers. Their collaborative projects have a sense of urgency, thrust into a scene of contradiction, implication, and overwhelming simultaneity that requires a radical shift toward mutual aid. Physical byproducts of industry are repurposed through fantasy. WETWINKIE’s sets, usually highly decorated and labor intensive, will be integrated and produced by the environment itself during their Bemis residency, allowing them to focus on developing the script, post-production animation, and reacting in tandem to their surroundings and potentially including some local young female musicians.
