In 2015, Sebastian Hirn and Lisa Hörstmann began developing the video and performance project outposts of resistance based on research of a 2003 peace campaign aimed at preventing the impending invasion of Iraq by gathering thousands of Western civilians as “human shields” in Baghdad. outposts of resistance examines possibilities of the political impact of individuals and the motivations and effects of Western intervention. While at Bemis they will conduct interviews with US marines formerly stationed in Iraq and editing video aiming to turn their material into an artwork.
