Jody Wood

New York, NY

Jody Wood is intrigued by interpersonal relationships–how they form, how they dissolve, and their delicate underpinnings. She approaches her artwork as an opportunity to explore this fascination and consequently has moved increasingly toward working directly with members of the public. During her residency at Bemis, Wood will continue an interdisciplinary experimental exploration of Secondary Trauma Exposure. “Choreographing Care” takes the form of an open, optional workshop for care providers and culminates in a series of live public conversations, performances, and video installations. It seeks to inspire institutions to establish community practices that prioritize and promote the self-care of social workers and other community care providers.
