Christy Chan

Oakland, CA

Christy Chan is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily in video, installation, performance, and oral storytelling highlighting the universal human need to belong. Most recently she has been working on the film “Pen Pals”, featured on NPR’s Snap Judgement and in The New York Times. The film tells the story of Shelly, an 8-year-old girl who writes idealistic letters to the Ku Klux Klan after they target her family. While at Bemis Center she plans to create "Everybody Eats Lunch," a social practice project where strangers share a meal and conversation.
