Brendan Hoffman

Kyiv, Ukraine

Brendan Hoffman is a photographer and co-founder of the photography collective Prime. His work reflects themes of nationalism, identity, history, politics and representation. In 2011, Hoffman began photographing in the small town of Webster City, Iowa; documenting the hardship and resilience of the residents after the local Electrolux factory shut down leaving hundreds of people without jobs. Hoffman plans to use his time at Bemis to design and implement a collaborative visual dialogue with Webster City residents incorporating his photographs, as well as photos sourced from local participants, to tell alternative stories of class and culture in America.
