Ting-Tong Chang’s satirical gaze leaves no aspect of society untouched. Revelling in the absurd and illogical, he makes a mockery of socio-political subjects ranging from the social and ecological effects of consumerism to the functioning of the art world itself. Working across the distinct practices of ink drawing, durational performance and kinetic sculpture, his transgressive practice co-opts science, technology and history to dissect the world around him.
Chang has exhibited and received a number of awards internationally including the 6th Taipei Biennial (Taipei Fine Arts Museum, 2008), Forum Biennial (Taipei Contemporary Art Center, 2010), European Performance Art Festival (Warsaw Centre for Contemporary Art, 2011), III Moscow Biennial for Young Arts (Moscow Museum of Modern Art, 2012) and Bristol Biennial (2014). As the receipt of Creative Initiative Award 2013-14, Chang held his solo exhibitions in Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop (ESW). In 2015, Chang was awarded Royal British Society for Sculptors Bursary Award, and presented his solo shows in Kunst Kraft Werk Leipzig, Machester Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art. He is represented by Christine Park Gallery in London.
