Andrew Ranville’s arts practice is largely project-based with location, landscape and the artwork itself determining the medium. His installations, sculptures, film, photographs, recordings and prints investigate a variety of interests including architecture, environment, cartography and community. He hopes to trigger the recognition of a new path, vantage point, surface or space for his viewers, and the balance between the formal and functional aspects of the work often elicits those interactions. The artist earned his MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art in London and a BFA from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. His has exhibited his work and displayed his installations internationally at venues such as Green Lens Studios (London, UK), Import Projects (Berlin, Germany), Corn Exchange Gallery (Edinburgh, Scotland, UK), Sanhe Museum (Hangzhou, China) and Théâtre Royal, (Marrakech, Morocco). Ranville has also had numerous residencies at programs such as HIVE Project Space (London, UK), Can Serrat (El Bruc, Spain) and Artists at the Armory (Sydney, Australia).
