Shanti Grumbine cuts, erases and burns texts and images to make space for what is lost when translating experience into words. She earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Grumbine's work has been featured at the A.I.R. Gallery and the Islip Art Museum, and has performed at the Guggenheim Museum in a commissioned piece by Ann Hamilton. She is a Milton and Sally Avery Arts Foundation fellow.
