Installation
Julie Schenkelberg's work centers around the interior psychology of the home and the objects of everyday life. Her large scale sculptural installations are a result of fifteen years of working in scenic theater painting shops around the country. She seeks to present the confinement and psychological dysfunction present in domestic worlds as regurgitated memory through the displacement and disruption of familiar objects.
Schenkelberg received an MFA at the School of Visual Arts holds a BA in Art History from the College of Wooster, Ohio. She currently shows at Asya Geisberg Gallery in New York, works for the Julliard School and paints large scale fabrication work for the New York fashion world.
