Brian Porray makes paintings, collages and drawings of corrupted systems on the verge of collapse. He spins his history and obsessions with science and technology, creating a toxic language through which he depicts raucous psychedelic environments. Forcing disparate elements to coalesce, Porray’s work collides the visual maelstrom of the Las Vegas Strip, the sublime landscapes of particle physics, and the turbulent DIY aesthetics of punk music.
Brian Porray received his MFA from University of Nevada, Las Vegas and is a previous recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant. His work was recently acquired by the Frederick R. Weisman Foundation, Los Angeles and the Pizzuti Collection, Columbus, Ohio. Brian has appeared in New American Paintings #84, and #87 and his work has been exhibited at Western Project in Los Angeles, Claremont Graduate University, the W. Keith and Janet Kellogg University Art Gallery, Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Long Beach, CUE Foundation in New York and Tompkins Projects in Brooklyn. He lives and works in Claremont, California.
