Sculpture/Installation
Mia Feuer makes massive sculptures that create the illusion of architectural elements in states of potential or collapse. They are inspired by North American bridges, cranes, and ports, as well as checkpoints in Israel and Palestine, where the artist has traveled and taught. Her materials include cast and painted foam, aircraft cable, and other commercial products.
Feuer received a BFA from the University of Manitoba in 2005 and her MFA in the Department of Sculpture and Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009. She has had solo exhibitions at Outerworks Gallery, Winnipeg, Canada; FLUXspace, Philadelphia; Dorfman Projects, New York; Firehouse Gallery, Burlington, VT; and Transformer Gallery, Washington DC. She has been awarded residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, The MacDowell Colony, and the Millay Colony.
