Sculpture

Tachibana explores his boyhood memories by modeling his work after toy transformers, insects and robots. His large-scale steel sculptures combine the coolness of metal with geometric shapes to dominate the space. At first viewers may feel intimidated, but upon closer examination, the sculptures reveal animated features reminiscent of cartoons or comic book characters, replacing earlier feelings of anxiety with nostalgia and humor. Tachibana earned his MFA from Kobe University, Japan. He currently lives and works in Osaka.
