Installation

McConnell’s installations utilize two-dimensional devices and trickery to produce 3-D illusions. Interactive in nature and sometimes reliant on viewer participation, her installations transform their adopted environments while simultaneously revealing the mechanisms used in the process. The artist is interested in the renewal that occurs when real space re-establishes the dimension lost in a culture driven by two-dimensional visual images. McConnell earned her BFA in Sculpture from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Painting and an MFA in Sculpture from Ohio State University, Columbus, OH.
