Pia Walker

Pia Walker strives to find a balance between the instinctual and the conceptual in her work. Pia is interested in the notion of an older, wiser internal knowledge that links human beings with the natural world from which we have assumed such a disconnected position. The exploration of the body-mind split, and the disintegration of boundaries between internal and external realities, inspires her process and her work.
Getting quiet, moving toward the center of the self, and allowing the work to flow, require patience and care. The best work, and the deepest understanding of it emerge from that place of centeredness. Pia finds that from this self-centered place, she begins to feel connected to her work, to her environment, and the world as a whole.
Pia recieved her BFA at Philadelphia Colleges of Art (University of the Arts) in 1991, and at Lacoste School of Art, Lacoste France in 1989
