In her art, Nancy Friedmann manipulates symbols that deal with ideas about femininity and the role of women in art history. She draws, paints and present these issues in an over the top gorgeous way. Among some of her interests are Spanish colonial art and Minimalism. Nancy paints some of the things that women have been historically associated with, like flowers lace and embroidery; monumentalizing them and give them a heroic place and scale that can remind one of high macho modern art.
Nancy was born and raised in Colombia. For the past sixteen years she has been living and working between New York and Bogotá.
