ENDLESS SUMMER: Okoboji House Tour with architect Jeff Day

The Bemis Center is pleased to announce a private tour of the recently completed Okoboji House designed by Min | Day of Omaha and San Francisco. This day-trip to West Okoboji, Iowa is planned in conjunction with the Midwest Architecture Forum, a symposium co-presented with daOMA (Design Alliance Omaha) that features the most progressive contemporary architects of the region. The forum will be held at the Bemis Center on July 19 and the Okoboji tour will be on July 20.
The three-hour drive to Lake Okoboji on a luxury coach will feature a curated program of films relating to modern and contemporary architecture. A light breakfast will be provided before boarding and mimosas and coffee will be served en route before a lunch upon our arrival in Okoboji. The bus will depart the Bemis Center at 9 a.m. and return by 7 p.m. and all day parking will be provided at the Bemis Center.
Screening of Martha Rosler’s How Do We Know What Home Looks Like? (1993) 31 minutes
Shot in Firminy-Vert, a Le Corbusier-designed housing project in south-central France, How Do We Know What Home Looks Like? traces the complicated history of the project, explores the way residents live in and with an architectural entity, and chronicles their half-successful efforts to save the complex.
Tickets: $65 for Bemis Center and daOMA members, $80 for non-members; price includes transportation, continental breakfast, beverages, lunch and curated film program. Tickets are $30 for those providing their own transportation; price includes tour and lunch.
