The number ten, in any language, is an important milestone and it will be the buzz word when the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts opens its doors October 3rd as the most anticipated art event of the year begins. That's because the Bemis Center's 10th Annual Art Auction Preview Exhibition showcases exceptional contemporary art from some of the world's most highly acclaimed artists, including former Bemis Center artists-in-residence as well as regional, national and international artists. The exhibition comprises one of the most impressive auction line-ups to date and features pieces by such major names as Therman Statom, John Buck, Red Grooms, Nic Nicosia, Lesley Dill and Mary Zicafoose, just to name a few.
Viewers can experience spectacular works during the Bemis Center's special Auction Preview Exhibition gala on Friday, October 3rd and straight on through to the evening of the 10th Annual Art Auction on Saturday, November 22nd, 5:30 - 10:00 p.m.
The Annual Art Auction is the Bemis Center's largest and most important fund raiser of the year. All proceeds benefit the Bemis Center's Sustaining Fund, which directly supports its internationally acclaimed Artist-in-Residence Program. For $25 per member or $35 per non-member, attendees receive admission to the Silent Auction, buffet and open bar. For $50 per member or $60 per non-member, attendees receive the benefits above as well as a reservation to the 10th Annual Art Auction Cocktail Party on Thursday, November 20th and VIP Reserved Seating in the Live Auction Gallery on the evening of the auction. Seats are limited to 250 in the Live Auction Gallery and savvy art lovers have learned to make their reservations well in advance. For those not seated in the Live Auction Gallery, live streaming video will be available so that everyone can be part of the action on auction night. And for the third year in a row, antsy art aficionados may purchase that perfect piece in advance of the auction. Satisfy your buy-it-now urges by visiting the AIR Gallery any time after the lights go up on Preview Exhibition night. The AIR Gallery is dedicated solely to works by former Bemis Center artists-in-residence (AIR). As always, absentee bids are accepted and interested parties may contact the Bemis Center at 402.341.7130 for additional details.
