Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts partners with USA Projects to expand funding to former artists-in-residence

At the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, we are always looking for new partnerships that align with our mission and expand our ability to provide direct support to individual artists.
To that end, we have teamed up with United States Artists and joined an innovative new initiative called USA Projects, a website that connects artists to funding for proposed projects, helping them bring creative projects to life.
USA Projects is the only online community where art lovers can learn about exciting new projects and make tax-deductible contributions directly to artists they believe in.
Artists seeking funding must be either USA Fellows or affiliated with partner organizations like the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. Our new partnership means that all of our nearly 700 former Artists-in-Residence are now automatically qualified to submit projects.
Much like other crowd-funding sites, all projects have a fundraising goal. If a project reaches its fundraising goal by the deadline, it is funded. If it does not reach its goal, no pledges are processed, and the artist does not receive any funding.
Launched in December 2010, USA Projects has raised $1 million for over 200 projects, 75% of which have been fully funded.
But the process of directly connecting the public to artists is about more than fundraising alone. It is about bringing creative projects to life, cultivating enthusiasm and building community around the most talented artists in America.
