A message from Whoop Dee Doo:
Greetings Omaha friends, co-workers, artists and arts enthusiasts! We need your help!!!

We are writing to ask for help with an upcoming project, Whoop Dee Doo, which is to be filmed live at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha Nebraska, on Saturday, August 9th, 2008 from 2-5pm.

What is a Whoop Dee Doo?
Good question!

Whoop Dee Doo is a kid-friendly faux public access television show filmed in front of a live studio audience. Based out of Kansas City, Missouri, Whoop Dee Doo features pre-planned performances accompanied by active audience participation. Structured something like a high school talent show, Whoop Dee Doo highlights a diverse array of performers from the Kansas City community and engages audiences of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

Past episodes have showcased a wide range of area talent, from the Marching Cobras (a professional African-American Drill Team), to opera singers, break-dancers, Celtic bagpipers, drag queens, punk bands, science teachers, tap dancers, dog trainers and more! Program components have also included game shows, contests, and dance intermissions. Whoop Dee Doo takes its inspiration from television shows such as The Carol Burnett Show, Pee Wee’s Playhouse, Mr. Wizard, The Gong Show, American Bandstand, Kid America, Sesame Street, Soul Train, Double Dare, Hee Haw, and You Can’t Do that on Television.

And now Whoop Dee Doo is traveling to Omaha to highlight an amazing array of Omaha talent!!!!

So what do we need from you, our dear Omaha friends?
Good question!

Do you have a little sister in an incredible batton troupe? Is your Dad in a barbershop quartet? Do you have a weird but talented Aunt whose 27 cats are trained to do simultaneous tricks? A nephew whose 3rd grade class would love to come and make props from the show? Send them our way!
We are looking for help of all type: with props, set design, donations and so on, but mostly we want TALENT!!! Talent of all ages and cultural backgrounds—in fact, the weirder, the more diverse, the more non-sensical, the better!! We also need dancers and audience members on the day of the show—kids and people in costume will have #1 priority!!

If you have any ideas, suggestions, or would like to volunteer, please email whoopdeedookansascity@gmail.com.

Please forward this email to anyone you think might be interested.

Let’s make the Whoop Dee Doo in Omaha a fantastic success!!!
