Foundation and Corporate Giving Associate

Now entering its 37th year, Bemis Center is seeking a Foundation and Corporate Giving Associate to help grow support for the organization’s mission through prospective partnerships with foundations and corporations at a local, regional, national, and international level.

Position Summary
The Foundation and Corporate Giving Associate will work directly with the Development Director and Executive Director to develop the Bemis Center’s growing foundation and corporate giving program and secure support for annual operations, programmatic activities, strategic initiatives, and capital projects. Reporting to the Development Director, the Foundation and Corporate Giving Associate will participate in identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective funders. This is an opportunity to join an energetic and collegial staff at one of Omaha’s most unique arts organizations.

Primary Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Foundation Giving:

  • Research and identify national and international grant opportunities that relate to the organization’s mission and activities;
  • Write and edit compelling grant proposals and narratives that align with each individual funder;
  • Ensure compliance with grant terms and restrictions, including preparation of interim and final reports;
  • Maintain grant application and reporting calendar through eTapestry;
  • Assist in the creation and coordination of a cultivation plan for new foundation relationships.

Corporate Giving:

  • Research and identify national and international corporations with philanthropic interests in the arts and/or that have a history of sponsorship;
  • Craft compelling sponsorship presentations including benefits to attract each individual funder;
  • Steward a portfolio of giving partners including through the fulfillment of corporate sponsor benefits, such as organizing private events;
  • Ensure sponsor recognition requirements are fulfilled, working with Communications team.


  • Successful candidates will have a deep understanding of foundation and corporate partner relationships with a strong interest and awareness at a local and national/international level;
  • 3–5 years of fundraising and grant writing experience, preferably in the context of a small-to-medium-size arts organization or other nonprofit organization;
  • At minimum, a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred;
  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as presentation and public speaking skills;
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database experience preferred; Adobe Creative Suite a plus;
  • Ability to act with excellent judgment and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality;
  • Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail;
  • Creative and strategic thinker with the capacity to take initiative and to work independently and as a team player in a fun, yet demanding arts organization;
  • Ability to assist with special events outside of regular business hours on occasion;
  • It is understood the ideal candidate will understand and promote the Bemis Center’s mission in a clear, spirited manner;
  • A successful reference check is required.


Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefit package provided, including medical, paid holidays, and paid time off.
