For the past 30 years, Charles Gifford has worked as an architect specializing in the design and construction of performance spaces, particularly on Broadway.
After receiving his Master of Architecture degree in 1977 from the Harvard School of Design, Gifford worked at respected firms such as Smotrich & Platt Architects, and Hardy, Holzman & Pfeiffer Architects. In 1986 Gifford started his own firm, Meyer/Gifford Architects specializing in theater renovation as well as commercial and residential work. In 2008 Charles and his wife Michele moved from New York to Omaha and started their current business, The Bath and Tile Co. in the Flatiron Building.
In addition to the Bemis Center Board of Directors, Gifford is a member of the Joslyn Art Museum, The Museum of Nebraska Art, Lauritzen Gardens, Film Streams, and The Museum of Modern Art.
